But I Love Him

But I Love Him

"Randall it's over between us." Lynn forced herself to sound firm. She knew this was the right thing to do. But her heart was breaking. No matter what Randall put her through, she still loved him.

"But why?"

"I know what you did. I know who you did it with. I could never be with you again."

"I don't know what you're talking about," Randall pleaded.

"You know damn well what I am talking about. The last time was the last straw!"

"Listen to me. You have it all wrong."

"Admit it, you were at Mysty's apartment last night. I know what you were doing there. You think I'm a fool?"

"I wasn't. I was out with friends. We were watching the game."

"I know the game you are playing. It won't fly. Not anymore."

"I love you."

"That won't work. Not anymore."

"I see you're upset. I'll leave and let you calm down. I'll call you."

"Don't call me again. I never want to hear from you. I never want to see you. We're done."

"Just sleep on it. You'll realize it's all a mistake. There is nothing between Mysty and me."

Lynn slams the door. She runs to her bedroom, jumps head-first onto her bed, and starts to cry. She is so conflicted. She knows that Randall has been cheating on her. There wasn't any doubt. But that didn't mean she didn't still love him. She couldn't help herself. That was how she felt. She hates him for what she has done to her. But she also loves him.

Lynn knew what she had to do. She had done it, she had to get him out of her life. Still, she loved him. She wanted him back. he was terrible for her. Their relationship was toxic. She couldn't ignore the obvious and continue as if nothing had happened. She couldn't be blind to the many affairs Randall had, and will continue to have. She deserved better.

Still, she loved him.

Lynn sobbed untiol she couldn't sob anymore for the time being. She sat up on her bed, swung her feet over the side andstood up. She walked to her vanity to see herself. Her puffy eyes looked back at her.

Lynn, a very pretty girl of twenty-six was tall and shapely with long legs but average-sized boobs. Any man would be lucky to have a woman like Lynn be in love with him. Unfortunately for her, Lynn was in love with Randall. She couldn't help herself.

Randall was only a couple of inches taller than Lynn. When she wore heels the pair was the same height. He wasn't extremely handsome with dark greenish eyes, but what attracted Lynn to him was how she made her feel needed when she was around him. He was strong in his way, but in other ways, he was quite helpless.

It was an odd combination that seemed endearing to Lynn. She couldn't put her finger on it. How a grown man could be so strong and so helpless at the same time?

Lynn wiped the tears from her eyes, fixed her makeup, and left her house to get some air. She kept a neutral expression on her face, and she busied herself with minor errands.

The next morning, Lynn got herself together. She had to go to work. She had to get on with her life. She took a shower, she got dressed in a periwinkle skirt suit with an eggshell-colored blouse, hose, and matching pumps. She had to look professional, she worked for William Lewis, a lawyer who had a private practice without any partners.

"We are going to trial in a few weeks. I want you to look over these exhibits and tell me if anything seems wrong with them," William directed Lynn. He relied on her judgment. Lynn wasn't a lawyer, but she was a big help to her boss. She had a knack for picking out problems that William's legal mind sometimes overlooked. They worked very closely, as most of the time, it was only the two of them working.

William was much taller than Lynn by at least four inches even when she wore her heels. He has hazel eyes and chestnut hair style in a low fade with a hard part on the left side, His facial features weren't as angular as most men, giving him an androgenic appearance.

"Sure thing."

Lynn didn't need to be told exactly what to look for. She had been working with William long enough to know what he wanted. William knew what type of person Lynn was and paid her every dime of what she was worth. If she got her law license, William would have made her a partner immediately.

Despite Lynn not saying anything directly, William could sense Lynn's distress. It might have been her body language or her tone. William couldn't articulate how he knew, but there wasn't any doubt in his mind.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing. The exhibits look fine so far."

"I don't mean that. I mean, with you."

Lynn knew she couldn't keep anything from him. "I broke up with Randall."

"I see."

"I mean, I broke up with him for good."

"I can't say I'm surprised. Would you like to go home?"

"I think it would be better if I keep my mind on my work. I would rather stay here."

"If that is what you want."

Lynn allowed herself to be hugged and comforted by William. She explained what happened and how she knew Randall had been cheating. Letting her story out, helped Lynn to feel better. It wasn't long before they were back to work. The trial was only a few weeks away.

Lynn's phone played the tune indicating an incoming call. Lynn saw it was from Randall and let the call go to voicemail.

When Randall couldn't get through by calling, he began messing her.

"I'm sorry. Please call me." the message stated. Lynn tried to ignore those messages too. She hated Randall, but she also loved him at the same time. It was very tough not returning the message. Even if she told him off, it would make her feel good to be in contact with him. Still, she stood strong and didn't reply to any of his messages. After a while, she turned off her phone.

As the days passed, Lynn's hate for Randall lessened, as her love for him returned. She knew in her head that he wasn't any good for her. Her heart was aching though. "I have to resist!" she told herself.

Unexpectedly, the trial was settled. The work ceased and a big payday was had by the firm. William didn't take any other cases during the previous matter, leaving him with well-deserved time for a vacation. He planned on going to Cancun.

"Why don't you get away like me! You have the time," William encouraged.

"I don't want to go on a vacation. I could never enjoy myself the way I feel. I just need time alone."

"I have an idea. Why don't you stay at my place while I'm away? I need someone to watch the dog and water the plants. Things like that. I would feel better if someone was at my home.."

"I don't know."

"It'll be like being on a vacation without having to go anywhere."
